Skyrim
- Today I traveled 10.3 miles with 3668 feet of ascent and 3635 feet of descent.
- I had a short day today since I was heading into Bethel, ME for a resupply and to stay the night at the Bethel Village Motel.
- My day consisted of summitting and descending Baldpate Mountain, which was appropriately named as the peak was comprised of huge stretches of granite slab.
- It rained in the morning so the granite was wet but the rock was pretty grippy so risks of slipping weren’t to bad as long as I took the climb and descent slow and stepped patiently.
- The top of the mountain was a great bit of adrenaline hiking. Trying to navigate the granite and keep solid footing while the mountaintop was surrounded in cloud made for one of my favorite stretches of hiking.
- I got shuttled into Bethel by Rodney, an iconic shuttle driver in the area known for going above and beyond to take care of hikers. Bethel is a small, beautiful mountain town. I had an amazing dinner at Butcher Burger.
Peace!
