New State, New Hampshire
- Today I traveled 9.8 miles with 2959 feet of ascent and 3789 feet of descent.
- I really dragged my feet getting out of the Lean-to this morning because it was so warm in my sleeping bag. The two ladies I stayed with in the shelter were planning on taking a zero at the shelter since it was still cold out and there were chances of rain. I ended up heading out a little before 9 and was really glad I did. I warmed up a ton once I started hiking and it really turned out to be a great weather day.
- Another short mileage day for me, but this terrain is the toughest it’s been in Maine. If I had started earlier and hiked later I’m not sure I would’ve gotten much more than 15 miles.
- I ended up at the Gentian Pond Lean-to around 3, right as it started to rain. It was a lovely spot with a great view. Over the next hour, 4 other hikers heading nobo showed up, Indy, Dandelion, Fresh and Tally Moe. They seemed to so be in their 20s and 30s and it was great hanging and swapping stories.
Peace!
