Moose Gave Me a Plan B
- Today I traveled 19.2 miles with 6447 feet of ascent and 3901 feet of descent.
- I got my trail name today, Plan B! At the trailhead this morning was a man named Sir Stops A lot making breakfast for thru hikers. I stopped and at some eggs and sausage and talked to him and another guy named moose for a while. The topic of my attempt at starting the AT Nobo in April until I severed my finger tendons came up, and later the topic of me not having a trail name came up. Moose asked me if I had any childhood names and I said not any that’d be good trail names, my family would call me B sometimes. When I finished breakfast and started to head off Moose mentioned how it was cool that I got a second shot at doing the AT this year, then paused and said my trail name should be Plan B.
- I wanted to push a bit on today’s hike since I had 27 miles to the next town and tomorrow’s forecast was supposed to be bad, so the more miles I could do today, the less if have to do tomorrow in the rain. I actually ended up doing my first night hike after summiting Mount Garfield, which was fun and kinda dumb since I was looking for a stealth camping spot. I ended up finding one that wasn’t on Farout (AT hikers’ navigation app) around 9pm.
Peace!
