El Flaco

• Today I traveled 23 miles with 5538 feet of ascent and 5230 feet of descent.
• I left bear’s den this morning after eating an all you can eat pancake breakfast. Afterwards we hoped right back in the Virginia rollercoaster, a 14 mile stretch of short, constant ups and downs.
• It was a perfect fall day with a high in the 60s and a low in the mid 40s at night.
• At night we stayed at a shelter with El Falco, a 67 year old triple crowner who was in his 4th AT thru hike. He was full of stories and jokes while not being a perpetual talker like most people full of stories. It was a great night getting to hang with him.
