Ponys Jump South
- Today I traveled 15.3 miles with 2890 feet of ascent and 2510 feet of descent.
- Today we went through Grayson Highlands and Mt Roger Park. It was an awesome s exciting of the trail. There were wild ponies in Grayson!
- Today was also the day we flip south past the storm damage caused by Helene. Steve, who runs Unicoi Shuttles, picked us up and took us south. Steve knew a ton about the closed section of trail and knew of people that had been clearing the trail. On the ride down he got word that the 80 miles north of where we were heading was passable on the trail so he got us a spot a hostel near the trail and now we get to do another 80 miles of trail! We’re only skipping 175 miles of the trail now vs 255 before. It was a huge surprise and I’m stoked we get to do more of the trail.
- We’re staying at Nature’s Inn Hostel and it’s one of the nicest hostels we’ve stayed at. The rooms are in tiny cabins with screened in porches right along a flowing creek.
Peace!
